Tammy says
Does anyone know if the Hormel Chilli is still producing the ups?
Diane R. says
@Tammy,
I’d love to know the answer to this question too. I can’t make it to RiteAid until Thursday this week. So I’ve already missed out on the toilet paper and facial tissue deal (except for the 1 UP that will still print …. wow, 1 whole roll of toilet paper LOL!). I really hope the Hormel chili is still producing the UP for each can along with the 1 UP for buying 4.
Corrina H. says
@Tammy, It worked for me this afternoon. I’m in Northern California.
Annie says
@Tammy, It worked for me tonight in PA.
Diane R. says
@Annie,
Thanks Corrina and Annie for answering our question! I went to RA today and bought 4 cans of the chili/no beans and got my $5.00 in UPS. I would have loved to have gotten another “set” of 4 cans, but after I took my 4 cans, there were only 3 cans left, so I left them for someone else. I also bought 4 TGIF snacks, 3 toilet papers, and 4 Halls cough drops (using 2 BOGO free cpns and 2 VV cpns) and all the UPS printed! I was a happy camper!!
AnnMarie Hofer says
Question-I’ve never bought brown rice before and I did the rice deal yesterday, but noticed that there are a lot of black little things in the rice. I went to two different stores and all four bags have this. Is this typical for brown rice? Just want to make sure they are not weeble poop or something. Thanks.
Lissa says
@AnnMarie Hofer, Yes it’s totally normal for brown rice. Just FYI, brown rice takes longer to cook than white rice….usually 45-50min vs. 20min.
Shannon Boozer says
Shannon, I was just wondering if you know when that particular store would be getting there truck in? I called this morning but the lady didn’t seem to sure. She said it would be there Saturday around 9am. Does that sound right? I called around to some other Rite Aids and they were ALL sold out! ugh!
Thanks again
Shannon says
@Shannon Boozer,
Well the deal is dead now.. The store gets its truck on Fridays right now.
Kristin says
Shannon,
Do you know if the Dixie “Ultra” plates are included in the BOGO sale?
Andrea says
My store didn’t even sell the ultra plates. Just the regular plates.
Lissa says
Is the Hormel limit thing from last week gone? I remember that you could only do one transaction and still get the weekly sale UP and the month-long UP, any further transactions would yield only the one $1 UP. Is it a clean slate this week to do one transaction only again, or as much as you want?

Loving the Christmas clearance! I stopped in today to get the Zantac deal for my boyfriend and ended up getting 10 chocolate santas, 10 marshmallow santas, 2 bags of cookies n’ creme santas, a box of mini chocolate chip cookies, a cookie tin, a bag of bows, 4 gift bags, 3 rolls of wrapping paper, and a 6 foot tall tree for just $7.80! The best part was the tree — we wanted on this year but just couldn’t justify spending $40 for one that size. Man was I excited :)

Karen says
Oh…how I hope that my Rite Aid has the Vaseline lotion on clearance!!
Barb says
Went to my RA today and all the tissues and Tp were gone! I did get to take advantage of the 90% off Christmas. Both my children will be in college next year and like having a tree. I got each of them a 4.5 ft tree with lights for $1.99 then got garland and ornaments. So each tree almost decorated cost me about $4.
Dee says
Look out for clearance in Dove shampoo. Found some for $2.50 and used the $1 VV as well as a $1.50/2 coupon from the Dove web site. That made them .25 each after UPR.
Also found some Acne Free face wash 75 percent off making it 1.99 and I used the $1 coupon from today’s SS insert. Not a bad price for a good product.
Sarah says
I need to move somewhere where they have Rite Aid…..Who wants to buy a house in St. Louis?
kim says
I just got back from Rite Aid, I tried the TGI deal and it works for me. I bought 25 bags and got $1 of 25 up reward. I went straight to food bank and kept 7 bags of TGI for my kids. The cashier was very frustrated with me because of the scanning of my up reward from last week that I used. My husband think I am crazy because I clean the shelt and give them to food bank. Do you think it is wrong to clean the shelt and give to food bank?
sandra says
@kim, It is annoying if you dont need the food because some people actually EAT the food. I work 10 hours a week after 6 months of unemployment. I can’t cant get on any sort of welfare whatever bc of my specific situation…and would you??? And there are lots of people like me who use these deals to get items cheap to actually USE. I didnt like that the tissue and such was gone 5 minutes after the stores opened bc that was something that I certainly use although it may be ‘so cheap’ to some people in cost and quality they just donated it. I ask that people do NOT SHELF CLEAR IF THEY ARE GOING TO DONATE PLEASE. Dont buy more than 1 or 2. Some people would like the dignity to go to the store to get them AND use them.
leam says
@sandra, Are you saying donation is not for feeding hunger people? All the foods that Kim donated to food bank will help some people out there that are hungry.
sandra says
@leam, There are hungry people with very little money who shop at rite aid with deals from sites like this who would like the dignity to be able to buy their own food and not have to go to a food bank or shelter. Which would you rather do: buy your own food or go to a food bank?
leam says
@sandra, I don’t think you are that broke yet since you still care about your dignity. People who are asking for help from the food bank really need foods to feed their family. Do you think those people don’t have dignities? Yes they do too, they had no choice but to ask for help. They will be starving without people like Kim donated food to the food bank.
sandra says
@leam, Oh, so people who go to the food bank dont have dignity? And YOU are telling ME how broke I am? Because you’re the expert.
Using deals from this site helps me to save as much money as I can so I can stay afloat. That is what I said from the beginning.
Shannon says
@sandra,
Melissa says
@sandra, People go to food bank have dignity just like you and I that is why I think it is a good idea to donate food to the poor. Why are you so upset about donation. I think you are the one who annoying since you don’t care about the poor.
Ruth says
@sandra, The items are there for everyone to buy, no one has a right to them more than the other person. I spend money on gas to go to various Rite Aids to get more items so why would I spend $5.00-10.00 on gas and buy 1 or 2 items? I would never take 20 or 30 of one item but I fell that if I took the time and spend my money on gas to get to a location; I have the right to buy whatever I want and how many I want. Only the store personnell can limit the quantities and if they do, I have no problem with it. If you want more stuff, do like I do, spend the time and money to go to various locations. I never get mad when the shelf is clear, I figure someone was lucky enough to get there before me, more power to them.
leam says
@Ruth, I am 100% with you Ruth. I would done the same, it took me 40 minute to drive to Rite Aid to buy 1 or 2 Items? that is silly, get real people. If you want it that bad you just have get there earlier, there is no excuse if you have to go to church or whatever…
sandra says
@Ruth, Of course its your right, and its your right to be whatever kind of person you want to be.
kim says
@kim, No, Kim. I think you are very thoughtful:)
Lauren M says
@kim, honestly i think its wrong to clear the shelf regardless of what you do with it
Dara says
I would leave some for others. If you went to rite aid friday or saturday then you could clean the shelves. But not all of us that can not get to rite aid sunday morning. I know I sometimes get frustrated went I finally get out the door with my 2 yr old and 2 month old, after spending so much time looking at adds, clipping coupons, and printing coupons, only to find the shelves empty, especially when the are items that my family would really like or need.
Ada says
@kim, I think it is awesome. They can always fill up the shelves :) Those at the food bank are unfortunate, and it is people like you that put food in their tummies.
leam says
@Ada, I agreed with you, Kim did the right thing. People like her that help feed hunger people:)
elisabeth says
Kim, personally I feel like it is fine in most cases and a wonderful gesture. Most of the time, the store actually has more in the back & they don’t put it all out because they know couponers will clear the shelves. They restock only a few at a time. A local manager told me this, that it’s the store’s way of controlling overindulgent couponers. Also, most stores, Rite Aid is one of them, will issue a rain check for items that involve +UPs! So even if the shelf is cleared the first time, they can go back the next week and still get it. I donate my excess to woman’s abuse shelters. As an extreme couponer it just comes with the territory and you have to accept it as the norm to find an empty shelf. Just get a rain check or two and try next week. At least you are doing some good in this selfish world! JMO :)
Corrina H. says
@kim, I think it’s great to be able to partake of these amazing deals that RA provides. I would be sadened if I got to the store on Monday (I don’t shop on Sundays) and the shelf was cleared. Kind of worried there won’t be anything left for me tomorrow…lol
I try to be conscientious of other shoppers. For example, last week I bought 12 Hormel meals (split between 2 stores). I plan on donating them. I left plenty on the shelves for other customers. My plan was to go back on Saturday, after almost everyone would have had a chance to purchase what they wanted, to purchase more. Had the UPR not changed, I could have bought several more for free, if it cleared the last few off the shelf it should have been fine since it was the end of the week and had given 6 1/2 days for other shoppers/couponers to buy what they wanted as well. I think that is ok, but clearing out an amply supplied shelf at the beginning of the week, not so much.
Corrina H. says
@Corrina H., And some stores only restock every other week, and even if they restock the same week, there may not be those items on the truck. I know, I’ve experienced this many time.
Ruth says
@kim, If you spend your time and effort to go to the store and you are also helping others, you have the right to buy whatever you want and how many you want. Please don’t pay attention to the people who say you are clearing the shelf, I have a great relationship with a lot of Rite Aid managers and they tell me that the people who whine the most to them about clearing the shelves are the ones who take the most items if the items are there. Don’t let comments in this blog deter you, we all have the right to express our views but I think most people support what you are doing. Some people have jobs and can at least afford to go to the store, others don’t and everything single item you give to the food bank or shelter is helping someone. Some children can’t get a hold of a bag of chips and your donations will be a great treat to them. Great job and keep it up.
Melissa says
@Ruth, You are making a good point. Ruth is right don’t listen to those people Kim. The one who are whine about clear shelf are the one annoying! stop whining and try to get there earlier.
augustaM says
I am one of those who would be in a shelter if it were not for having a very fortunate family situation. So I do appreciate it when people do not clear the shelves. You never know who is coming in behind you. While my family can provide me with a place to live (myself, husband, kids while we have been looking for work for a long time) we certainly cannot rely on them for food, bills etc.
This is why I don’t shelf clear (if there are only a few to begin with ok, but you know what I mean) and why I personally think it’s ok to take a few extra to donate, but I also think it’s just as generous to leave inventory for others.
You really never know the persons situation who comes in after you. They could be right out of the shelter.
Amber says
@kim, Hmmmm this is a toughie. I agree that donating to shelters and food pantries is a noble action. However, your actions here are not completely philanthropic because, in essence, you received $ for your donation and were incentivised to buy all the items b/c you knew you were getting them for free. I think the ‘do unto others’ verse applies here. Perhaps there are many others who would also like to donate but get to the stores only to find there is nothing left?? I would discourage shelf-clearing, regardless of what you do with the items. I think people have made good suggestions here- buy at the first of the week for your family (within reason) and use the latter part of the week to purchase items you plan on donating.
Melissa says
@Amber, would that be easier for other if they want to donate? because Kim already done that for them. This is not about whom want to look good or not but this is about the poor that are really need help, Amber.
If people want to donate food to the bank so what? They take their time to go through all the troubles to help others.
Pauline says
Don’t for get to use the Video Value coupon for the hormel chili !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kristine Twardy-Todd says
I found the 90% off clearance and they had Christmas Lights left, got 5 100 Count strands…3 colored and 2 White…for .29 cents each!
Sandra says
I just went and successfully bought 5 cans with beans and a tgiFridays bag of chips, so 6 items and got 7 UPRs. Do you think the extra UPR is from the Chili?
Shannon says
@Sandra,
yeap!
Jessica says
Hey Shannon,
Thanks for all you do… I totally can relate how difficult it is to stay away from Rite Aid for a week! I was wondering if there is a list of what food items are producing the 1 dollar UP reward? Or has it been just a guess and check?

There is no complete list = but my store was tagged today! As soon as I get a minute, I am going to go back to get some of the items.
Amanda says
Spic n Span is on 50% off clearance at my store (so $0.50/each). Matched with the $1.00/2 Spic n Span coupon, they’re free (minus sales tax). Might be good for others to look out for.
sherrie says
@Amanda,
Only one of my RAs in my area had these marked down to 50 % and when I tried to use the coupon it beeped. Most RAs wont take coupons if they beep, but my cashier pushed it through thankfully!
elisabeth says
Thanks, Amanda, I was able to print two from my only computer! Sometimes things are funny that way. But thank you so much for letting me know! I sure hope our RA has ’em on clearance!
miranda says
this may seem like a silly question but when you see those 75% off signs is it 75% off the price on the shelf tag or is the price hanging below the item the clearance price? Our store had a ton of kotex products and physicians formula 75% off
Amber says
Oh my, now I may have to go back to RA for my second trip today!!! .25 rice is unbeatable:)
Wendy Pesce says
I thought the Olay lotions etc was bogo 50%- is the $1.79 a reg price, sale price, clearance?? Thanks
Shannon says
@Wendy Pesce,
you are looking at all clearance deals on the bottom of the post.. Clearance items do not ring up with the sale.
Barbara says
Actually, just realized, did it take a purchase of only 4 cans of chili in order to have (5) $1 UPR print?
Shannon says
@Barbara,
yes — but I bought 5 because they were $.25 after the $1.00 UPR (after you buy the first 4, you still get the $1.00 for the 1)
cindy says
I got 3 Hormel chili without beans and 1 with beans and it printed all 5 ($1) UPR.
Shannon says
@cindy,
Tried 4 without beans the first time — didn’t work – returned and got with beans and it worked.. maybe its a combination of 4 — i read that others are having issues with buying 4 no beans too.
Kristine Twardy-Todd says
@Shannon, I got 4 No Bean chili and it printed all 5 for me.
Shannon says
@Kristine Twardy-Todd,
ok good to know :) I will update..
Kristine Twardy-Todd says
@Shannon, No problem. It is weird how it works for some and not for others!
Angela says
@cindy, I got Chili with beans and without and all the UPR printed fine for me.
Barbara says
The most burning question and one that I HAVE to know the answer to is —- Were you able to retrieve the rolling can of chili???
Shannon says
@Barbara,
NO! It literally rolled down the hill and we have a big hill, so someone way down the hill will be finding some chili, I have no idea where it went!
Barbara says
@Shannon, That is very funny!! Someone will get free chili without having to work for it!
Viki says
Well, you win some, and you (literally) lose some. Sorry about that.
Harry Martin says
@Shannon, In all fairness, you should also roll the UPR down the driveway.
:-)
Shannon says
@Harry Martin,
LOLLL Harry. :P
