Goodwill often has great buys. For example, my $1.03 corkboard saved me about $25.00 over buying it new. Believe it or not, there are still more ways to save at Goodwill. Many Goodwill locations offer a frequent shopper card or rewards program. When I started writing this, I specifically had my Goodwill Shop Savers card in mind, but then realized that each region has different offerings.
Goodwill of PA Keystone Area offers two programs:
Shop & Save Card enables regular Goodwill customers to receive discounts on select merchandise. Shoppers can purchase a Shop & Save Card at any Goodwill Keystone Area store location for $4.25. The card provides for daily discounts in more than 30 Goodwill Keystone Area stores for an entire year. Each store has a discount board as to what is available that day. Each stores discounts will vary – if you speak to the stores employees, you should be able to get a good idea of what the store offers on a regular basis. Here are some tips to maximize your savings:
Try to check the board early in the month and write the days that interest you in your calendar.
The Shop & Save card also offers a Discount Day each month. The discounts can range from 10% -30% off your purchases.
Show your Shop & Save card every time you shop, sometimes you might miss a discount that is available.
Buy your card when you are going to make a big purchase. Since the cost is $4.25, you may want to wait until you are making a larger purchase to recoup your cost of the card immediately.
Talk to the employees, they will tell you when the best buys are going to be. Don’t be shy, most employees want to help.
Not every Keystone Goodwill has the same discounts. If you have two that are close to you, venture to a different store to see what they are offering.
If you are 55 and over, the Gold Card Savings are offered at all stores every Monday. Persons 55 and older receive 15% off all purchases, Monday only. The Gold Club Card is available at no charge from any Goodwill Keystone Area store (proof of age required).
Examples of other Goodwill locations :
Goodwill of Lower South Carolina offers a Goodwill Rewards Program – 1 point for every $1 you spend. When you spend $250, you will receive $25.00 off your next purchase. They also offer special sales and advance notice of super sales.
Goodwill of Akron Area offers a Customer Appreciation Program For every $10 spent in the store, the shopper will receive a “stamp” on his/her card. After ten stamps are received and the card is completed, the shopper will receive 35% off the next purchase. This Goodwill also has Customer Appreciation Sales on designated days throughout the year, members will receive 35% off their entire purchase.
