As you may already know, I am working on my home office. The colors are blue and black. It is a small room, 12 x 12, so I need to utilize every square inch. I am just about finished, but had a blank wall I needed to fill. I really needed a cork board to post a bunch of different items on. I looked around and could only find those ugly tan cork boards. Not only are they very ugly, they are expensive. They were running about $29.99 at Walmart. No thanks, I didn’t want to spend $30 on something that didn’t even match my room.
Enter my Good Friend Goodwill. I decided to stop by on a whim last week. I didn’t really know what I was looking for, but I wondered on in. I turn the corner of the “brown” isle – (don’t you just love how its separated by color) and see this beautiful specimen of a used faded tan cork board with a nasty stain on it. That was my corkboard. I picked it up and the sticker said $.97 cents. Yeah, definitely my cork board.
So I pay my $1.03 and load this beauty in the car.
I decided I wanted it to be black instead of dirty brown. I purchased a can of spray paint for $1.12 at Walmart and then skipped over to the Dollar Store. I bought some Vinyl Wall Art for $1.06. After a quick spray paint job, I let it dry and applied the wall art. (you have to press pretty hard and hold them down, but they will stay!)
The end result – A black corkboard with a little personal touch for $3.21. It was hard to show the accents but hopefully you can see them!
I am on a mission to find a lamp now. I will try and hit some yard sales to see if I can find one for under $10.00. I am going to go to Ikea and buy a leather black chair and the room should be complete! I can’t wait to show you pictures! Enjoy your Wednesday.

Shannon- Check IKEA for lamps too, they sometimes have really funky lamps for cheap! :?)
I love this site by the way, it’s great for “not mommas” too, we’re trying to save for a house of our own so I’m trying to stretch every dollar. You might want to include Aldi on your grocery store list, they sometimes have better deals all the time than the sale ads. Example is 8oz.chunk cheese, every day it’s $1.29. Produce is fresh and ALWAYS a good deal, example iceberg lettuce .99, 10lb potatoes $2.99, 2lb carrots for $.99. I love the place!
Keep up the great work, I’ve been visiting the site every day since I discovered it.
Have a great day!
