I found out about this offer approx 10 pm last night. I hurried on and tried to place the order – but, it would NOT add the primer to the cart w/just the sharpener. So, I added another item, and alas – the primer magically appeared in the cart! I then removed the other item and purchased my sharpener for $3.18. I hurried and did another transaction under my boyfriends name. (whoo hoo, 2 for me!)
While I’m checking out, I’m on the phone w/ my mother walking her through the steps. About 20 minutes later, (the West coast must have just gotten done w/ dinner) my mom was FINALLY able to add items to her cart. She tried the same trick I did, but once she removed the other item, the primer dissappeared.
So, we figured out that earlier in the day all you needed to do was buy a sharpener.
Later in the day Laura Mercier said “we’ll fix their wagons” and made it so it would not add with only a sharpener. (Many of us got around this by adding other items and then deleting them @ Checkout)
And then approx 10:30-11:00 PM Laura Mercier said “OH ****” and changed the programming to fix the trick we figured out. I tried to get that primer in there w/ a few diff. cheap items – would not work.
I didn’t see the original offer, but it seems to me they were cheating customers by making the change they did later in the day. Someone obviously wasn’t thinking clearly and should have made a minimum dollar amount to the transaction prior to advertising the promo. (Note, I did a google search and someone posted that they called Laura Mercier and they were told it was minimum $25 purchase…which is a LIE because it was adding it to the card with only $19.00 eye pencil!!) I think it looks REALLY bad on the company’s part to change the programming so late in the day. I get their point – but it was their offer and they should have stuck by it.
It’s like the man who shows up at you door with the Kirby shampoo system and they offer to clean you carpets for free. Then they get angry when you won’t buy the 2,000k system. It’s not your problem you won’t buy it – it’s theirs for making the offer!
