About Dropps: Dropps is an innovative liquid detergent that makes laundry “laundr-easy”. Its super-concentrated formula fits in tiny,pre-measured “toss-and-go” dissolvable pacs. Once unleashed in your washer, it’s tough on dirt, but easy on your favorite garments.

I received the Dropps sample in an envelope via the mail. Immediately, I knew this was a different laundry detergent. I opened the sample up and behold, a very small plastic pouch that looked like this:

drops.jpg

Immediate impressions of the product were:

* I was impressed how little packaging there was. The detergent pouch dissolves right in the washer, so the only waste is the plastic pouch the product is shipped in. This too is biodegradable.

The detergent is phosphate and enzyme free.

I did 4 loads of laundry using this product.

* The Dropps were super convenient. I simply threw them in and put the clothes on top. No measure, no pour, no mess!

* My husband can do the wash now! He fills the cap of the detergent up to the top, totally disregarding the lines for each size load. He could use the Dropps because they don’t require measurements and there is no wasting unnecessary detergent!

* Dropps would be perfect for travel to laundry mat or on vacation.

There were two samples I tried were scent + dye Free and fresh scent.

* Neither scent triggered any of my asthma symptoms.

* The scent free version was truly scent free. The clothes smelled clean, but no scent!

* The fresh scent just smelled clean. No floral, candle shop smell.

The Dropps really surprised me. They actually did a great job cleaning my clothes.

* I did loads on hot and cold, both cleaned equally well. My son had a shirt with dirt all over it (you know the I am a seven year boy and played real hard dirty shirt), that was spotless after the wash.

* The packaging recommended to pretreat the clothing with nasty stains, but I opted to try it without!

I also only used 1 Dropp in each of my loads. I am not sure that you need two. This would be the only disadvantage that I see with this product. You would have to use two if you had a large load and could not adjust the amount of the product.

After drying without any dryer sheets or fabric softener, the clothes were relatively soft. They were definitely softer than if I used my other detergent alone. I would honestly continue to use softener, as I like my towels and sheets like butter! I probably could skip the softener on our clothing.

Overall, this little product packs a big punch in the washer but with little impact on the environment. I am loving Dropps and will most definitely be giving them another shot.

I know all of you want to know where to get a coupon to try these right? Well, you are in luck! Dropps is giving away a 3 months supply of Dropps Detergent to a For the Mommas Reader! ** I am adding that they are HE compatible.  In fact, I have an HE washer.

To enter, just leave a comment about what you think you would like most about Dropps. To get a second entry, subscribe via email or reader and leave a comment. Giveaway ends Monday, July 6th.

I think the best part about these would be the packaging. Reduced size cuts down on the environmental impact as well as the amount of space needed to store them.

I think it sounds neat to just drop in a pre measured dropp. Neat & easy & something that really works is always a winner for me!

I think I would like the softness the Dropps detergent provides. I can use dryer sheets or fabric softener because of sensitive skin and I would love something that could soften my towels and sheets.

I love the fact that its a pack that you just drop and go no measure no mess and safe for the environment. That sounds to good to be true. Like you said my hubby can do the laundry. He uses way to much detergent and he dose not rinse the little cap thing and it gets gooey detergent everywhere, it drives me nuts. This would truly be an answer! All I have to say is WOW! Sign me up…

I think these would be a great way to make laundry less time consuming. With twin 1 yr olds and a 6 yr old boy – we are constantly doing laundry. I would be interested to see if I could stop spot treating EVERYTHING as I seem to have to do now…Also, I could maybe get my husband/son to help out with the laundry. Throwing the little packet in the water seems like something that my son could do to help mommy out!

Adore the thought of these. I am thinking I might be able to teach my 7 year old to do her own laundry with these. It is a stretch but perhaps with the ease of these my hubby could do his own laundry too???

Would love to try them to see how they work on our cloth diapers.

Also thinking the convenience of these would be great for my hubby while he is over in the Middle East, would make walking to the laundry room easier if he just needed to carry one packet with his laundry instead of the whole jug.

I read that using too much detergent makes clothes dry stiff, and I think I have that problem. These might help me to use the right amount.

Reply

85 Jesi June 29, 2009 at 1:12 am

I always get detergent stains on my clothes. I am way too lazy to add the liquid BEFORE my clothes, so we end up with odd spots all the time. I find the idea of this exciting. I use cloth diapers for my son, so I would be very tempted to see how they do on “do”. LOL!

Reply

86 Erin June 29, 2009 at 1:14 am

I could do the laundry while holding my 8 month old! We live in an apt building and the laundry is on the 1st floor. I often take my son with me to do laundry. I wouldn’t need a 2nd hand if I had these!

These would be great for when I travel. I do a lot of business travel and haven’t found a good way to take my laundry detergent with me due to spillage, need to measure, etc. So I end up buying the smallest box I can find which is often overpriced and not my normal brand (which can cause allergy issues for me). These look like they would provide a great solution.
Thanks for the chance to win!

I love these!! I’ve never seen this packaging – it reminds me of the dishwashing packaging! I would love this because there would be no residue from drips down the detergent bottle – that smear and seem to grow when you try to wipe it up!! This would definitely solve that problem! :)
