I have had many questions about using the Rite Aid Video Values coupons with a manufacturer coupon.
So please try to follow me:
This is a Rite Circular Coupon.
NOTE: It says MANUFACTURERS COUPON and NOTE It says RC in the bar code.
ALSO note that it tells you to COMBINE this coupon with a Coupon in the Sunday Manufacturers Coupon Inserts.
So clearly, this coupon A RITE AID COUPON, NOT A MANUFACTURER COUPON, can be combined with an Insert coupon. They tell you to do it. This is confirmed in Rite Aid’s coupon policy HERE.
Please carefully read the Limits of Usage. It clearly states that RC coupons can be used with manufacturer coupons, even though they say MANUFACTURER COUPONS!
So here is your Rite Aid Video Values coupons:
Same type of coupon RC coupon – meaning it can be used with another manufacturer coupon. This has been confirmed at the store level and customer service level at corporate. I am not making up some way around using these to coupons together. It is permitted per their policy and confirmed by corporate. So if your manager at your store says no, you can do one of two things, accept it or show them the corporate policy or call corporate. I am sorry you are running into this , but I have provided all the information I can to help you have a smooth transaction.
PS If you can’t tell, I am frustrated. Not with any reader, just with Rite Aid. Why do they make it so difficult and why does every store have its own policy!!! Ugh.

I work at a Rite Aid. And we see this problem a lot. The video value coupon now has the person’s name on it and that person must show Id to verify they are that person. We do not get reimburstment if more than one of the same coupon is used in one transaction so we have to be very carefull now.

Thanks for this wonderful post and clarifications. The only time I have had problems at Rite Aid is with the same “grumpy” unfriendly cashier.
Instead of making a scene there, I simply call corporate afterwards and verify that what I was doing was legitimate, then go back to the store and talk to the store manager. The manager has ALWAYS been wonderful and actually has called me usually before I get to the store to take care of this issue.
I also want to say that I have worked for another drugstore for 10 years and can verify what Jackson said. I am not a manager but I know that there have been times we have been given grief because of coupons that we took, due to the questioning of the “big shots”. I think it is a good reminder to us that most times, managers are not out to be hard on us, but they also need to keep their backs covered as well. Their jobs and possibly even the cashiers jobs can be at stake.
I’ll get off my podium here soon, but want to add yet too that often if you are POLITE when pointing out coupon policy info it goes a long way. I know…I was a cashier before.

I printed two copies of the rite aid video value $2 huggies coupons and the rite aid cashier said that she cannot accept them because i made multiple copies of them since they both have the same RC bar code at the bottom. Question 1: do huggies video value coupon have different RC bar codes when printed from two different accounts?? 2. is it not okay to print coupons a few times? 3. was the cashier correct in not accepting the coupons?
I am new at this and would love to know more. thanks for taking the time to shed light.

I printed the coupons off two separate accounts and they didn’t have different numbers on mine. Same thing when I used my brothers computer at my folks house. Personally I know to just use one coupon of the adperks and then consider myself lucky if they take that one. There really was no reason for her not to take at least one. Ive also never been able to print the coupon more then once… from one account. However I have several accounts and print off the $5/$20 coupon…. and it works just fine same thing with my huggies I did the deal twice once for me and once for my mom.
Angie says
@Dizzy Mommy,
It is against policy to have coupons off of two seperate accounts. You must now show ID to verify you are that person. Plus everything is getting tracked with your wellness card so one day you may find you are not receiving your discounts as a penalty.

I work for Rite Aid as a dreded manager. We hate the coupon police as much if not more then you. We hate the coupon game MF+Vc+scr+raincheck+internet=bs. Many managers have been fired over coupons, that what many of you dont understand. I would like nothing more then to scan it send it off and never worry about it. That not what happens. We scan it then someone high up ask why did you do that? Did you not read policy 6.0.1v8 it clearly says not to. The worst is when people come in with 300 of the same coupon and buy out my entire inventory. I only get a delivery every 14 days. You all wonder why we fight you, that why. Its my job to fight you, because if I dont its my job.

Jackson,
I think you make an excellent point.
First and foremost, I love my Rite Aid managers. They are the best!
Second, I never ever advocate shelf clearing. It is just not polite, period. However, if Rite Aid runs a promotion that you buy 10 Johnson & Johnsons items and get $15.00 back , then Rite Aid should make sure that they have an adequate stock. Adequate stock doesn’t mean 50, that means only FIVE customers can partake of the sale.
Also, I don’t want to fight with a manager. I don’t think its fair that managers should have to be in the position they are.
I am simply asking Rite AId to decide what their policy is and stick to it. If Rite AId says, no coupons, then no coupons. I just wish they wouldn’t put one thing in their circular and then tell us something different when we get to the store.
Thanks for taking time to comment. I appreciate it.

Well said Shannon!

I went last night, and the Rite Aid I went to (Harrisville, UT) took all 3 ad perks $2.00 off coupons, so after the rebate, I ended up paying $7.26, or $2.42 a pack! They didn’t have all the sizes I wanted, either, but I’ll just exchange them when they get a new shipment in. Thanks for the deal scenarios, Shannon.
Frugal Femina says
My cashier would not take both coupons at first. We called the manager over, and he said they are supposed to accept both.

Thanks for updating us with this. :)

Hi!
Great site. I’m from Cleveland Oh. I went today and they would only allow me to use one $2 off coupon Rite Aid coupon. I was unable to print the $3 off manufacturer coupon, one site said they expired :( Anyhow, I ended up paying less than $5 per package so that was still good. And yes, the overnights are included. I got one of those w/coupon.
Kahra @ Thrifty LaRue says
So, technically, I guess they’ll only accept one AdPerks $2.00 coupon, right? I’m heading to Rite Aid in a few for the diaper deal. I called ahead, and they’re all out of size 2, but I’m going to buy size 3 and just exchange them if I need to. The rebate picture on their website shows the Overnights..are they included, too? Does anyone know? If so, I have $2.00 off coupons for them that I found at coupons.com.

I just started following your blog not too long ago and LOVE it! I am in Wilmington, De and have absolutely no problems at my Rite Aid. They take anything I give them. I could give them a gum wrapper and they would scan if it they could. Most of the time they just manually enter everything. I love my Rite Aid!
Thanks for the awesome blog!
Shannon says
Chrissee,
ok that is hysterical. I love it! A gum wrapper.. he he you ladies are funny tonight!

I did this deal last night. Sure enough, it rang as a Manufacturer’s Coupon, but the Manager on Duty came over and approved it.
It took an Ice Age … but for $3 diapers, I’ll suffer. Thanks for the heads up on the deal and all of your research!
Shannon says
Abby, I laughed reading your comment.. An Ice Age.. love it.

Thank you for posting this, I will go back to the store later tonight and try again!

I just wanted to report back that it was successful. I went back the next day but the same crabby cashier was there so I just left. This morning I went in and had no problem, this cashier took all the coupons, I didn’t even have to pull out the policy document I printed off! I told her the trouble I ran into and she said all cashiers should know the difference between a rite aid coupon and a manufacturers coupon.
Zombiemommy says
I had the same thing happened, I was SO GLAD I read your disclaimer, I stood my ground and she finally gave it to me..
Thanks!
