I’m so excited that I found your website (I think I saw a link on Money Saving Mom). Last week I started a $50 weekly grocery budget. I’m very new to coupons and how to find deals. I live in South Central PA and shop at Giant. I’ve never really shopped at Weis. No reason, just haven’t. All the blogs I’ve read are about deals at Southern stores like Publix. I’m SUPER excited to find one about deals at a local store. So, thanks! I am now a faithful follower!!

Great shopping trip, especially since it includes meat!

are you able to get home delivery or do they actually include coupons if you get it out of the area? thanks…i’m still fairly new to all of this. :-)

Eunice,

I usually get mine at Rite Aid. Recently the Inquirer stopped including Red Plum, so i have started to buy those.

Hi Shannon, Awesome trip! I still haven’t been able to find those great deals on meat. But I’m working on it. I made a trip to Shop Rite today. I spent $23.27 and will be submitting 2 – $5 rebates for SC Johnson products. So OOP will be $13.27. I saved $80.40 before rebates. The woman behind me asked where I had gotten my deals and coupons from so of course I shared my secret – forthemommas.com. Thank you! It wouldn’t be possible without your blog!

Thanks. I went to Weis too, your Weis must have better prices. The only thing I could find that I needed and matched with yours was the Whole Chicken. I actually got it for $.60 lb! Thanks for posting it, it helped! I’ll post my shopping trip this week!

Shannon,

I usually shop at Giant Eagle (western PA). I’ve started to go to Kuhn’s to cherry pick then head to Giant Eagle to do the rest to earn the gas rewards.

Any thoughts or ideas?

Missy

I can get good sales at Giant by pairing the sales and coupons. I stop at Weis sometimes to pick up good deals. I’m planning to stop tomorrow for a few things.

Shannon Reply:

Holly,

I shop Giant – but their prices are never as good as Weis – mainly because of their one like coupon double policy.

Shannon Reply:

Weis.

Weis is so much better for sales than Giant.

I don’t seem to save quite as much, either, but I do buy a fair amount of fresh produce (what’s in season and on sale) and I regularly buy things like brown rice and whole wheat flour, which don’t go on sale very often. I’m still saving, though, just not as much as in your shopping trip. I also live in southern New England and I’m gathering from listed prices that our prices are often higher here.

Shannon Reply:

Mary,

I buy my flour, rice and such in bulk. Do you have a place that you can buy that near you?

I also never buy my produce at the grocery store. I go to a produce outlet.

Hey Shannon, that is awesome! Can I ask what grocery store you hit? I’d like to get some of those deals! Thanks for posting!

Shannon Reply:

Weis Markets.

That’s fantastic! I agree with Jolon though. I’m having trouble getting more savings at the grocery store, too. I usually save about 20% or maybe slightly more.

Missy,

Were are you shopping?

Nice work! I wish we had your grocery stores!! Despite all my frugal tricks, it’s hard to get the 70% savings you did…
