So this answers our question about using video values with in ad coupons. When you get your ad this week (06/06), I suggest you cut this out and stick it in your coupon binder.
Thank you Rite Aid.

Why doesn’t anybody post the actual email they received from corporate to support this claim ???
Please post it… so we can print it, and take it in, and teach these RA cashiers and managers…
Shannon says
@Val,
I will not publish Rite Aid emails to individuals, per request from Rite Aid.. you can email Rite Aid or call Rite Aid and get this information.

My store told me that I can not use 3 coupons on 1 item. She said I can use the VV and the in ad together but not with the manufacturers q. The picture above, supports what she said because it only shows 2 q’s, not 3. If it showed the use of all 3 I assume she would take it. Also, to further complicate things, the VV q’s actually say manufacturer coupon on top, so I guess they perform that role. I emailed and called corporate for clarification like the rest of you but their offices are closed on Sunday :( so I have to wait…….
Shannon says
@laura z,
You can use three coupons, per corporate, per customer service and per district manager.

Up untill last week RA could mark down RA coupons but can no longer do this. There was a corprate meeting with the managers in my area and this was strictly explained to them. This is a bummer but I would say just don’t use the wellness+ card for that item by doing 2 transactions. One for that item and another for everything else with the card. If you ask to do 2 transactions nicely most cashiers have NO problem with it.

How do you find the ‘long ad’ online? When I go to RiteAid’s website they want my zip for the ‘weekly circular’. Not seeing the coupon in that.
Jen #2 says
Could someone get something from corporate that we can all print out saying that using in-ads with VV coupons are legit? It sounds like people are having a lot of issues for absolutely no reason other than the cashiers/managers being on a power trip. If the coupon scans it scans – the computer usually sorts out what’s not allowed by coming up with an error. I don’t want to go to Rite Aid and deal with all of this drama if we’re in the right.
Shannon says
@Jen #2,
Hi Jen,
You can email them and they will email you back in writing.

Went to get my Coppertone and was unable to use both VV and in-ad coupon. The cashier and manager both argued with me and I even had the Zegerid ad from next week with me. They said you could only do it if the ad specifically mentioned using both coupons. What?!?! I have emailed corporate to see what they say.
Shannon says
@Nina,
Are you kidding me! Wow. Unreal.
Bethanie says
I went to Rite this week to purchase the Coppertone using the 3 coupons, mauf, VV and in ad…the cashier was very rude and told me I could only use 2 of the coupons, not three. I stepped aside and called corporate right there and they said yes, I could use all 3 as long as the total did not go below $0.00. She continued to argue with corporate on the phone and said thats not correct! Then she hung up and said she would do it this time, but for future reference that is not the way they do it!!! Can you believe her nerve after corporate told her to do? I called corporate again when I got home to again verify the policy and yes, they do definitely accept all 3…she said they would be contacting the store to make sure all employees understood the policy and she took the cashiers number and said she would be spoken with…..Yeah for sticking to your guns when they make you feel like a criminal!!

Thank you for this info! I just returned from RA and was told I could not use a VV and an in ad coupon. I had read this post earlier and wish I had printed it out. This is definitely going in the coupon binder!
Jen says
Thank you for this post. I did notice that the example scenario doesn’t have a manufacturer coupon in the mix. I think most Rite Aids will have an issue using three all together like in the Coppertone deal this week. Any thoughts or suggestions.
Shannon says
@Jen,
You can use a manufacturer as well. The Coppertone actually suggested it this week in the ad. :)

Nice little surprise from Rite Aid on this one!!
I have to add that I’ve always been able to use multiple video values per transaction. I would say this is a YMMV situation, depending on your cashier and or Rite Aid location. I would say try it – worse they can say is no (and in my case, they always take them.)
Jennifer says
I have 4 within 10 miles..there are so many good deals, I am hopping around. So I will check them tomorrow, just thinking maybe we dont’ have it in this area, Michigan.
Thanks:)
Jennifer says
I looked there too….they had every brand, but nivea and not even a spot where it would be, they did that the lower priced ones, oh well, that was a great deal and these coupons are burning a hole in my pocket:)
Shannon says
@Jennifer,
Do you have another Rite Aid nearby? Maybe you could call them?
Jennifer says
I did this transaction 4x today and had to talk the cashiers into it..the one told me that the coppertone ad had to specifically show all 3 coupons being used:( On a side note – I cannot find the 5.99 nivea for men at any of my rite aids, is it only in certain places?? Mine only have the 4.99 and 5.49 ones:(
Shannon says
@Jennifer,
I found it in the corner near shaving gels.
Mel says
Got my email back from them today. She told me it is considered an Id-Ad coupon not a RA coupon, so you can combine both with no problems!! I’m just glad to have it in writing so I can now take it in to my store!
Melody says
Ugh, this makes me crazy! I emailed CS about this issue a few months ago and was told that I could not use all three so that is what I have been telling my readers all along. Thanks for pointing this out, my local Rite AId would definitely take all three together, but I haven’t done it because I was told not to. Ugh! Definitely would have saved me some money this week on the Coppertone. :( Anyway, thanks again for the heads up!
Shannon says
@Melody,
I know makes me nuts too.

Question about RA policy: I purchased the tugaboos sample pack (.89 w/ wellness card). There is a $1 off coupon in the package that is good on any purchase of Tugaboos (doesn’t exclude trial packs). I wanted to use it to buy more samples and keep turning them around. Does RA have a policy to adjust down a coupon, like Target and other stores do? Just curious to see if I could work this deal without having to buy filler items :)
Shannon says
@Dani,
In the policy it says that the coupon should not exceed value..maybe just don’t use the wellness card? YMMV if they will adjust.
Terri says
I have a question regarding the in-ad and manufacturer’s coupons. This week’s ad had a $4 coupon for 200 count Advil and I also had a manufacturer’s coupon for $4. So that was a total of $8 off. Well, each coupon went through the system with absolutely no problem. I have always been unclear whether this is actually legit. Any light you can shed would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
Shannon says
@Terri,
Legit. :)
Heather says
Ugh! The Zegerid must be in the long ad because I have next week’s ad and its not there! And, of course, my store doesn’t allow it so this would have been great to have!
Shannon says
@Heather,
Next week when the ad comes out, just go online and find a long ad and print it down.
Diana says
I went yesterday to do the Coppertone deal and used both the $3 VV coupon and the in-ad coupon and felt guilty about it because I thought I was sneaking in the second Rite Aid coupon. I’m glad to hear I didn’t actually do anything wrong. Thanks for this!
I only just this morning realized I can’t do both the Olay rebate deal and the Coppertone deal because they are the same Rite Aid rebate. Boo.
Mel says
Thank you! I emailed customer service yesterday in hopes for something in writing so I can take it in when I get the Coppertone. I know my store won’t let me do it unless I have something in writing. The Claritin coupon in this week’s ad also made it fairly obvious that they take both the VV and in-ad coupon. On that in-ad coupon it said to check out the VV coupon for Claritin as well for additional savings or something along those lines. Hopefully I get something soon and can go get some sunscreen!
Lydia says
Don’t you love when they answer our questions for us so clearly and so unarguably? :)
Shannon says
@Lydia,
Yep love it Lydia :)
kelly says
I just checked out my ad, and it doesn’t have that in it. All of the in items listed only showed the in ad coupon discount. I just email customer service to see if i could have used the extra in ad coupon with the video value and the manuf coupon on the coppertone that i bought on sunday.
Shannon says
@kelly,
Its from next week ad.
Holly G says
I wish, i wish, i wish I would have had this on Sunday. I went to a different RA to get the Coppertone as my usual doesn’t have any & they said I couldn’t use a VV with an in ad. Ugh! That would have saved me $6. Also Shannon, I have gotten conflicting scenerios from various sources about the VV. Is it ok to use more than one for lets say I’m buying 3 packs of Huggies & I have VV from 3 different accounts… is that ok?
Shannon says
@Holly G,
According to my source at Rite Aid.. Only one video values coupon per transaction per like item.
Jen says
I actually emailed inqury@riteaid.com and got my answer to this question. I printed the email and took it to my store and they were glad to have it! At first they were a little coupon averse but I’ve helped to make them a more coupon friendly store lol.
Shannon says
@Jen,
Unfortunately, everyone has gotten a different answer – I have been posting this in my scenarios and some readers have been having a hard time. It is pretty hard for a cashier to argue this :)
